Biography/ Blurb:
The Maya Dance Group was established in 1990 as a community group performing traditional El Salvadorean folkloric dances and continues to grow and develop with future generations.
The group showcases folkloric dances as well as modern styles such as cumbia. Each dance is a Maya Dance Group original choreography.
These dances represent the history, culture, traditions and diversity of El Salvador. The dances can involve drama and story-telling and depending on the theme of the song can range from calm to upbeat but always with vibrancy.
Each show is tailored for the specific event taking into account the target audience and venue.
Our aim is to engage with our audience during our performances so we can take them on a journey about El Salvadorean culture through our dances.
Influences and inspirations: indigenous culture of Central America, Spain and other Latin American countries, Ballet Florklorico de El Salvador
